You’ve probably heard about intermittent fasting, but how does it actually work? In brief, it involves eating only for a specified period of time, but not eating during the rest of the day. The plan can be simplified to three points during the day. For example, you can skip your morning and evening meals but not eat during the late afternoon and early evening. During the window of no-food, you can drink black tea and coffee. There’s no sugar.
You need to follow a seven-day meal plan, consisting of four to six small meals per day. For the first two days, you can eat a Russian Salad with flax seeds powder, while the other two days, you can eat only one main meal, such as vegetable quinoa or dal khichdi. The next day, you’ll fast for six to eight hours.
However, if you have a heavy workout schedule, you should be very careful about when you exercise. Since your body uses stored fats for energy, you should be sure to avoid the fasting hours when exercising. The timing of exercise is crucial, so choose a low-intensity, light-intensity routine. If you must exercise heavily, you should follow the diet rules, but make sure to work out before lunchtime. If you do exercise on an intermittent basis, it’s best to work out in the morning.
